So here we are another week has gone by. I hope that everyone had a good week.
Lots of great things happen this week but one thin that I want to talk about in particular. We all try to do the right thing. But we don't always feel as if we are making a difference in the world. Well this week Spirit was nice enough to show me that I am indeed having a positive impact on the world around me.
Last night something happen to show me that as I make the choice to walk in HONESTY AND INTEGRITY good things happen.
Last night I had a REALLY MEAN TABLE while I as at work. For those of you who do not know I am a Server for a living. I was sat a two person table in my station. It was two ladies. I recognized one of them right away. I had seen her in the restaurant before and she had a horrible reputation of always complaining and getting her food or free. Some of the things I have heard of her complaining about range from:
not being greeted in a timely manner
the server(girl) giving her dirty looks
food being overcooked
knowing the history of her complaining I was trying to do my best to keep her happy this time. I greeted her as I always great my tables with a happy attitude and a smile on my face. She immediately asked if our General Manager was in the restaurant and I kindly told her NO. I offered to get them something to drink and they declined and asked for only water. I asked them if they would like to start the evening off with an appetizer and described my favorite to her. She again declined. I than gave her a few moment to look a the menu and I came back to take their order. This is when she began to complain. " I want o get the special she said (chicken Alfredo) but than she said something very odd something I have NEVER HEARD BEFORE. considering I have been doing this job off an on for over thirty years. Basically she was accusing the restaurant of not giving people with the special order Alfredo the same alfredo sauce that the people who order off the regular menu. when I attempted to explain that both dishes are made the same she was very defensive and rude and said I KNOW THT IS NOT TRUE. Rather than sit there and argue this point I simply stated that we would be sure to get the good alfredo sauce for her.
they asked for ranch dressing with their bread and I was happy to give I to them. they also wanted to be sure that they could split the bill in two and I agreed. they repeatedly asked me if they could do that and even asked ARE YOU SURE....I was determined to get through the meal without a mishap so I made sure to keep a good attitude at the table. their meals came out. I brought them each extra alfredo sauce as a courtesy. The woman seemed almost offended by this act of kindness. "YOUR NOT GOING TO CHARGE ME THAT ARE YOU???" she said. I assured her that I was not going to charge her for any extra sauce and that I just wanted o be sure that she had enough. I came and asked them if they needed if the food was tasting ok and asked them if they needed anything several times throughout the meal just to be sure that everything went well. After the meal she made a loud announcement. I Want 8 breadsticks FOR FREE and two salads TO GO FOR FREE. I took the time to explain to her that we normally charge for bread to go however I did tell her if she asked for the bread before end of the meal I would bring it to her. I further told her that I would do give her the bread at no charge for her. AGAIN even though I offered to bring it they were still upset. EVERY OTHER Restaurant does it for us. again I told them I would do it for them. so I went to the back of the restaurant to get the things they had requested. the bread was in the oven being cooked. I went out to inform the ladies of this. it was at this time that they asked for there checks and they wanted to know if they could have a military discount. The special that they had ordered was the only item on the menu that we could not use the military discount on due to the fact that there is already a discount on the item. after telling her this I went back to back of the restaurant to get the item's they had requested. on my way back to the back of the restaurant the table right next to them motioned me over. the man at the table said to me YOUR A BETTER MAN THAN ME. he ha been watching this whole thing unfold and could see how mean these two ladies where being. Not knowing if they women could hear him I attempted to acknowledge his comments with thanks and gratitude
As soon as I refused to give the two women a discount and walked away from the table. They asked to speak to a manager. They began to complain about my service until they got the both of there meals for free. On the way to the back of the restaurant the manager was told that their was another couple at the front of the restaurant that wanted to speak to him. It was the couple that was sitting next to the women and they told him what a great job I had done under such hard circumstances
But this is were it gets even better. the table on the other side of these women. asked for the manager and told him the same thing. apparently they were speaking in german . well it turns out the table next to them UNDERSTOOD GERMAN. They were saying all of these awful things. and that pleasing them was going to be IMPOSIBLE. something tells me that if he had spoken to them first the women would not have gotten any thing for free
the end of the story is( the manager went back to the table and asked them NEVER TO COME BACK. He heard from the other two tables. One of which was NOT EVEN MINE. by that I mean another person was there server. It just goes to show that doing the right thing does pay off. these people whom I do not even know say what was going on and stood up for what was right. The fact of the matter is people do notice when you do the right thing
Yes going thru that was hard. but it was great to see complete strangers come to my defense. GOD/SPIRIT/SOURCE has your back in everything that you do
I want to take a moment and thank those two tables for their kindness of standing up for me. I may never see them again. May the be blessed ONE THOUSAND FOLD. They are the true hero's of this story. and the next time I see a gross injustice taking place around me may I have the strength and courage to stand up too.
NAMASTE
blessings to you
